Hello, my name is MinSoo!

Born to Korean parents, I grew up in Mexico, attending an international school where both English and Spanish became my first languages. This mix of cultural influences didn’t just shape who I am; it gave me a unique perspective on learning and teaching—a perspective I’m excited to share with my students.

From a young age, I experienced both the good and bad sides of education. My mother was an academy principal for the Korean community in Mexico, so I spent countless hours in classrooms, tutoring centers, and even at home, watching her work and learning from the educators around me. I’ve seen firsthand what a difference the right teacher can make, especially when it comes to turning something dull into something meaningful. This was especially true in history, a subject I once dreaded but later came to love thanks to a teacher who transformed it by bringing the stories and characters to life. This teacher taught me that learning isn't about memorizing facts; it's about connecting with the material, finding relevance, and making it fun.

I went on to study Political Science and International Relations at the University of British Columbia, honing my skills in critical thinking, writing, and public speaking—skills that are just as essential in teaching. After working in financial consulting and now in proptech, my career has led me to engage with some of the most influential voices in real estate and business. Yet, what I’ve realized is that my true passion lies in helping young students discover the joy of learning, just as my teachers helped me all those years ago.

Teaching, to me, is about more than just academics. It’s about inspiring curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and most importantly, making learning fun and engaging. I know how challenging it can be when classes feel like a chore, so my goal is to bring each lesson to life.

I believe that every student deserves to feel the ‘click’ momentwhen something difficult becomes clearand my mission is to make that happen for everyone I teach.

Let’s make learning something your kid can look forward to.

Suppose you’re looking for a tutor who understands the importance of both fun and rigor, who’s experienced in guiding students of all ages, and who’s passionate about creating a positive, meaningful learning experience. In that case, I’d love to connect with you.
